Stained Glass Masquerade

The Casting Crown is a Christian rock band that began as a student worship band in 1999. It was started by church pastor Mark Hall at first Baptist church in Daytona Beach, Florida as part of a youth group.

Ever since then the Casting Crowns band has become an inspiration in many people’s lives. Their target is the youth, and they have written a lot of songs that people were able to relate. And one of those songs is the “Stained Glass Masquerade”.

The message

Casting Crowns wrote a song ‘Stained Glass Masquerade’ about how, in general, Some Christians are very good at disguising how they are. Especially in traditional churches, we are likely to hide in a mask, because we don’t like to admit our flaws and weakness, fearing of condemnation. So we conceal it away. We profess that everything is alright. Pretending usually grows on us, but that doesn’t get the problem solved. It just leaves it there to manifests seeds until it grows to even break us. It’s not just an issue for Christians. All over the world there are broken, hurting people longing to cry out for help, but afraid they will be shunned. So they keep it to themselves and continue to pretend so some of them turn to drink or drugs to ease the pain. In some cases it gets so bad they feel they thought taking their own life was better.

Make a difference

One thing we could do as Christians is just be more welcoming to those people who are in need of help, people with problems would feel more welcome in church, and it could also benefit church attendances. Or if in this world that not all are born Christians, we can encourage them in with what they are facing right now, it’s not all about converting people, its being able to reach out to those who need help even if it’s not devout help. It’s about making a difference in a person’s life that could also bring self fulfillment in your spirituality and individuality.

Follow the right path

So sometimes we are unaware of our actions, and sometimes we preach things that we cannot even comply with. We are trapped with our own neglect, but what about outside of church? Do we wear masks then? I would say most of us do. Most of us disguise who we really are because of peer-pressure, failure to be accepted and a lot of more reasons. We are more prone to go a different path than follow the right one. That’s what Stained Glass Masquerade meant, you as an individual have the power to change a persons way of thinking, because our words are sharper than a two edged sword. How much time would someone have to spend with you before it became apparent that you are living for someone? If you’re a Christian, never be ashamed of who you are, never be ashamed of Jesus. If you’re not, it goes with whatever supremacy you believe in, just remember, you are loved and valued in your own way. You are given the gift of life once, and life is too short to live in, so live it wisely and worth remembering.
